Prolution has received a grant for the development of a mobile spray unit for treating foot infections in dairy cattle.

The impetus for this project stems from the working conditions in dairy barns and other types of livestock farms. Dairy farmers often need to treat foot infections in cattle twice a week by entering the barn carrying a 25–30 litre tank on their backs. From an occupational health and safety perspective, this is a heavy burden, and the approach is also not optimal because disinfection often cannot be carried out effectively.

Prolution aims to offer a solution for this by developing a device that provides an occupational health and safety-friendly alternative to manual treatment of athlete’s foot and, moreover, helps with more effective treatment and prevention of the disease. It is a mobile, semi-automatic spray unit for cow barns.

The spray unit must be a lightweight device that is easy to operate and capable of moving through the barn over an uneven floor without great effort. The spray unit must be equipped with two 25-litre tanks for spray liquid, a power source, an extended lance with spray head, control electronics, and sensors.
